During my work as a certified Teaching Artist, I have noticed that a surprisingly high number of students either have no world geography knowledge or their knowledge is extremely limited. Many students (including middle schoolers) cannot name and locate all 7 continents with certainty and even more students are unable to name and locate 4 countries with success.
Now more than ever, it's important that your students know where they live in the world, where the U.S. is located in relation to other countries, and how we fit into the global community. Without an understanding and firm foundation in geography, a child cannot fully understand other cultures, historical events that shaped our planet, and how s/he fits into our world's current events.

This virtual residency is a combination of an author visit for the book Jammin' Geography- Caribbean Cruise, live student Q&A sessions, and an "Accelerated Reader" styled online quiz. The students responses will be delivered right to your email inbox along with an answer key.
Add on virtual options include: a fun & educational steel band performance, historical presentations on the instruments of Trinidad and their cultural connection, world geography lessons, online student activities that can be completed in a classroom or home setting, quizzes and games.
